Grace and Peace to the Members, Family & Friends of Evansburg United Methodist Church!

Truly, I must give total praise to our Lord and Savior for the good work He has begun in all of us at EUMC. Wow! Two months already and look at us! Living, learning and loving one another, in short living out our faith. In two months together we have shared stories, shared laughs, and shared dreams and yes much food has been shared between us. I can share with you our time together thus far has been precious! Praise Him for allowing us precious time to get to know one another, through word, song, prayers, smiles. laughter and yes, food! Oh yes that precious time after Worship where we truly come together and fellowship, and yes with food!

Fellowship, that time we designate to be in relationships with one another. Relationships that allow us to grow, learn, laugh and cry and most of all live. All of which we do when we are in fellowship with one another and our God. We live! You see God calls each of us in various unique ways to be in relationships that will add substance to our lives; for God knows the plans He has for us and those plans will always include fellowship, first with our God and then with one another. And in between the fellowship we are called to live! We are called to live in communities of faith, communities centered on trust, communities built on and around how we do fellowship. It does not matter the church or denomination, God calls us into fellowhip through our communities so that we can live.

We live with “the least of them” (Matthew 25:41-46) doing outreach in the soup kitchens, by providing school supplies for the community; and by visiting the sick. We live with our neighborhood children through Christian education “Jesus said let the little children come to me” (Matthew 19:14); we live through the preached word “how shall they believe, in Him of whom they have not heard” (Romans 10:14-15). Evansburg is living out their faith individually and collectively, as we learn, grow, laugh and share what it means to truly be in fellowship, first with our God, then with one another. Evansburg is alive and well!

In my first month I did a sermon series based on the “Rise Up and Pray” theme, which we echoed over the course of three days at our EPA Annual Conference in June and I can share with you, on this very day that I am penning this epistle several members within the congregation are still saying to me, we must ‘rise up and pray’; we must rise up and do more for the least of them, we must rise up and evangelize; and the the very last thing I heard was: Pastor, we must rise up so that we can live! Yes! Live for Jesus. So prayerfully consider allotting some time in your schedule, so that you too can ‘rise up’ with us and live for Jesus!
